Position Summary:
As a Test Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing Flying Probe (FP) test profiles to support new product introductions and manufacturing operations. A key focus is migrating and enhancing existing test programs to the SPEA 4060 platform, improving test coverage, efficiency, and overall effectiveness.
Job Description
As a Test Development Engineer your primary responsibilities will include:
-Developing, creating, and maintaining Flying Probe (FP) test profiles to support new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing test strategies.
-Converting and enhancing existing FP test profiles from the legacy Flying Probe platform to fully utilize the advanced capabilities of the SPEA 4060, including improved coverage, speed, and test effectiveness, and handling reduction.
-Collaborating with design, manufacturing, and industrial engineering teams to define test requirements, coverage expectations, and development priorities.
-Supporting the development, validation, and optimization of test methods, fixtures, and setups, including hardware and software test solutions, with hands-on debugging and verification of newly developed test profiles.
-Analyzing test data to evaluate test coverage, effectiveness, and yield trends, with a focus on prevention of downstream manufacturing issues.
-Documenting and maintaining test procedures, development standards, and profile change history to ensure consistency and traceability.
-Supporting the transition of newly developed or converted test solutions into production, including initial ramp support as needed.
-Other test engineering related activities as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, electronic engineering technology, or other related technical discipline.
-At least 1 year of relevant experience, including hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic systems or assemblies.
-Strong understanding of electronics theory, principles, and practices.
-Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to follow quality and safety standards.
-Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
Desired Characteristics:
-Experience in writing and developing test procedures for electronic products or systems. Familiarity with embedded device programming, JTAG, Boundary Scan and related technologies.
-Familiarity with LabVIEW, ANSI C, C++, or other relevant software language used in test and measurement and experience creating a useful software application that will run in Windows or Linux.
-Familiarity with environmental stress testing methods such as temperature, vibration, shock, HALT, and HASS.
-Knowledge of industry standards and regulations for electronic products and systems, including safety and compliance requirements.
-Basic understanding of analytical tools and techniques, such as FMEA, DOE, SPC, and other statistical process control methods like Six Sigma or LEAN.
-Strong cross-functional collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
-Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
-Knowledge and experience in Design for Test (DFT) practices, including the ability to design or redesign and implement effective process and tool improvements.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Grain Valley, MI is $65,000 – $97,000 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. KB Signaling is a is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use.
