JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Technician II conducts prebuild inspections of components and performs a variety of general mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components to build HVAC units for use in the rail car industry according to drawing specifications.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with company's rules and policies.
  • Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations.  Be energy conscious, if applicable.
  • Must understand and comply with applicable standards. ( i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, and CMMI).                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
  • Maintain and safeguard business records.

1. Conduct prebuild inspections of components and sub-assemblies, noting any pre-existing, handling-damage, prior to beginning the next phase of the build process. 
2. Utilizing approved manufacturing work instructions, use hand, pneumatic, and power tools to assemble components, according to drawing specifications, while adhering to quality requirements and best practices.  Assembly processes, performed in an assembly line area, include:
•  Installation of sub-assemblies and other components 
•  Installing gaskets and sealants
•  Running wiring 
•  Fixing components and hardware installation 
•  Building of wiring harnesses per work instruction and/or schematics
•  Installation and assembly of unit electrical assemblies and other components 
•  Integrate sum of parts into the HVAC unit
3. Inform supervisor of any part or equipment defects noted during the build process.
4. Monitor the shelf life of any consumables used to complete the build process. Follow all established disposal methods associated with consumable material. 
5. Perform serialization of parts and follow work orders in SAP, our enterprise resource planning system.
6. Provide support and assistance to other technicians and team members, as directed, and any other duties as assigned by the Cell Leader or Sr. Personnel.
7. Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with the company's rules and policies.
8. Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.

1. Technical Capacity: Must be able to follow work instruction and be able to use drawings and read blueprints and schematics.
2. Electro-mechanical Aptitude: equipment maintenance, mechanical inspection tools and tooling

Required Education:

High School Diploma/GED

Required Experience:

6-8 years Relevant Experience 

Physical Demands:

Sitting, Standing, Walking, Alternate Sitting or Standing at Will, Crouching, Pushing or Pulling, Kneeling and lifting or carrying an maximum weigh of 50 LBS.

 

The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Westminster, MD is $21.55 to $23.95 per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Knorr Brake Company is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies.
