JOB DESCRIPTION:

Employer: Knorr Brake Company LLC 

Job Tile: Sr. HVAC Mechanical Engineer 

Job Location: 1 Arthur Peck Drive, Westminster, MD 2115.

                         May work remote 2-3 days per week. 

Work hours:  M-F, 40 hours per week. 

 

Job duties:  Review customer specifications and create clause-by-clause documentation in response together with the project assigned team; perform mechanical system performance calculations; support and prepare the mechanical part of the technical proposals; prepare the mechanical specifications and documentation such as system descriptions, tests, and analysis based on existing documentation; create the 3D models of the HVAC units, control panels, control boxes or any other parts of the HVAC systems; develop system schematics (piping diagrams) based on existing documentation and keep updated; create system bill of materials, keep updated, and provide costing/weight estimates per system bill of materials; create waivers to customer requirements when required; provide customer feedback to design engineers and project management; provide mechanical engineering task schedule input to project management; review customer manuals and training materials produced by the Engineering Services Department, providing feedback to the author; prepare mechanical component specifications to meet requirements of the system in cooperation with the HVAC System and HVAC Electrical engineer; provide input and updates to Department Manager and Project Manager regarding mechanical project progress; review customer specifications and create clause-by-clause documentation in response related to Mechanical Engineering topics; perform mechanical engineering calculations; provide support to prepare technical proposals; develop new system specifications and documentation such as system descriptions, tests, and analysis; develop new system schematics (piping diagrams) and keep updated; create system bill of materials, keep updated, and provide costing/weight estimates per system bill of materials; create and manage all technical documentation within the PLM system (Windchill) including RFD's, ECN's, ECT's etc.; review and approve the mechanically related customer manuals and training materials produced by the Engineering Services Department; develop mechanical component specifications to meet requirements of the system; responsibility to check and verify the documentation created by Jr. HVAC Mechanical Engineers’ provide technical support for the other mechanical engineers; provide support to the Department Manager in training and on-boarding new hires. All the above job duties are related to Rail Industry.

 

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related and six (6) years of experience in transportation industry. Must have experience with all of the following: Experience with  mechanical engineering principals; experience with Windchill and NX CAD; experience with Finite Elements Analysis and Shock and Vibration; Value Engineering experience; Strength of Materials experience; experience with sheet metal fabrication; experience with Engineering Change Management (ECN, ECR)

 

Travel: Domestic and international travel up to 20%.
