JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

 

The Software Engineer will have the primarily responsibility of providing assurance that the software portion of a project fulfills commitments for the software product:

 

  • As specified in the customer and end user’s technical specifications and contract documents; In compliance with project-specific, software related plans; Consistent with internal process requirements.
  • The software product will be developed for HVAC systems.

 

Essential Functions

  • Review customer and end user specifications and support proposal development.
  • Prepare, maintain, and implement documentation to IEEE and/or EN standards
  • Prepare and/or review software design documentation submitted to customers.
  • Oversee specified software verification and validation tasks.
  • Work with all other departments to execute projects
  • Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
  • Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
  • Comply with project plans and industry standards
  • Ensure software is updated with latest features

 

Knowledge:

 

Must be familiar with embedded control system environments typical in hardware systems.
A secondary responsibility is to provide support for format and correctness of software design documents required for submittal to the customer:


• Meet IEEE or EN document content requirements
• Are correctly formatted for maximum readability
• Consistent with Merak's existing document templates


Experience:

 

  • 3-5 years of similar experience working withing industrial environment.
  • Executing full lifecycle software development including executing full SQA
  • Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code (Linux, Python, C, C++,)
  • Producing specifications and determining operational feasibility
  • Supporting testing in and out of house
  • Working with customers and other engineering groups to complete work on time and to requirements

  • Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations.  Be energy conscious, if applicable.
  • Must understand and comply with applicable standards. ( i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, and CMMI).

Education

 

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering

 

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Westminster, MD is $65,000 to $97,000 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Westminster Merak RAIL is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements. Hired applicant will be able to purchase company stock, subject to the relevant plan documents and annual bonuses based on achievement of certain metrics of up to 4% of annual salary.
