JOB DESCRIPTION:

Summary/Objective Responsible for establishing the overall strategy for the Transit Business Unit with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability as well as day-to-day leadership and management. This includes implementing profitable short- and long-term programs and processes to optimize work-flow, review and approve plans to control budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, new areas of technology and customer service efficiency, review performance against Operating plans. Reporting to the President, The Vice President of Transit Business Unit will present regular reports on performance.

  • Full Profit and Loss for Transit BU.

  • Develop and implement strategies for markets, products and services targeted by the Transit Business Unit mission.

  • Drive market share and profitability through analysis and target setting: profitability analysis of current product lines, penetration and profitability by customer, new products/programs, new markets, price strategies.

  • Develop and drive strategies to grow existing product lines both domestically and internationally.

  • Identify and develop joint venture, licensing and teaming opportunities to supplement domestic growth and profitability.

  • Develop assessment tools for measuring and improving the performance of the sales organization.

  • Participate in the development and management of the Transit Business Unit teams as part of the senior management team.

  • Assess effectiveness of current sales team and organizational structure and make changes as necessary.

  • Lead Sales organization through the implementation of an effective organizational structure, recruiting, training and appropriate development and compensation programs.

  • Lead Sales & Systems engineering group in the execution of applications engineering proposals and solutions

  • Develop relationships and participate in board and group level activities with applicable industry regulatory bodies (AAR, FRA, FTA, etc.)

  • Establishes an execution organization with a focus on project management.

  • Manage government affairs for all product, service, and customer related activities

  • Establish and enhance customer relationships with Transit-car and locomotive builders, railroads, fleet owners and operators.

  • Negotiate and close business agreements with key customers and partners.

  • Support international KB affiliates to maximize sales growth of Transit Business Unit and KB Group in international markets.

  • Provide reliable locomotive, Transit-car and spares forecasts and models to support the planning process.

  • Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.

  • Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.

  • Must understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.

  • Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

Work Environment The employee will be required to perform duties on a computer terminal. The employee may be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree

10+ Years of Relevant Experience, 10+ Years of Supervisory Experience

 

Preferred Education and Experience

MS in Engineering or MBA
