JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Tactical Purchasing Manager is a key position that will assist in various activities to help ensure the company is operating efficiently and effectively.  This role will help to oversee Knorr Brake Company’s supply chain strategy, operational execution, leadership and direction of MRP Controllers (Tactical Purchasers), process changes and procedural/work instruction management.  

The Tactical Purchasing Manager will be responsible for driving year-on-year improvements in KPI’s, including supplier OTD, SAP data accuracy, managing overdues, reschedule messages, trading goods sales line reconfirmations, RTV lines, problem PO receipts, and cost reduction through reviewing order batch quantities and schedules.  This role will also work with the Director of Purchasing to identify areas of concern or poor performing suppliers to improve the communication and management of these business associates. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate main interfaces with the key members of the Supply Chain Management Value Stream (Purchasing Manager, Warehouse Manager, Operations Manager(s), Sales Logistics Manager(s), etc.).
  • Drive cross functional teams in regard to creating, maintaining, and improving processes and SAP utilization. 
  • Manage and oversee the MRP Controller queues, ensuring all KPI`s are improved over time, and supply chain issues are relayed to the relevant internal customers.
  • Participate in the development of supply chain improvement processes/projects.
  • Identification of weaknesses and development of improvement and cost saving possibilities.  Initiation and execution of continuous improvement projects that are measurable and quantifiable that have a positive impact on our processes or foundational practices within the Supply Chain Management Value Stream.
  • Create or develop procedures for Supply Chain Management with input into other functional areas, such as sourcing, sales logistics, etc.  Document supply chain processes, such as workflows, position responsibilities, or system flows. 
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet delivery requirements. 
  • Analyze and optimize all tasks and processes within the supply chain – from purchase order entry to goods receipt; consulting and coordination of the process owners, creating the necessary environment for cross-functional cooperation.

 

Technical Competencies

  • Well-founded knowledge and experience in the usage of MRP/ERP modules.
  • Knowledgeable in Supply Chain principles, Project management, Purchasing and Supplier Quality.
  • Solid knowledge of SAP.

Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree

6-8+ years of experience
