JOB DESCRIPTION:

The HVAC Assembler conducts prebuild inspections of components and performs basic mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components to build HVAC units for use in the rail car industry according to drawing specifications.  

Essential Functions:

•  Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with company's rules and policies.
•  Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations.  Be energy conscious, if applicable.
•  Must understand and comply with applicable standards. ( i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, and CMMI).
•  Maintain and safeguard business records.

1. Conduct prebuild inspections of components, noting any pre-existing, handling-damage, prior to beginning the build process. 
2. Utilizing approved manufacturing work instructions, use hand, pneumatic, and power tools to assemble components, according to drawing specifications, while adhering to quality requirements and best practices.  Assembly processes include installing gaskets, insulating units, installing and tightening hardware.  
3. Prepare surfaces and apply sealants and taping using approved cleaning methods and drawing specifications during various stages of the build process. 
4. Inform supervisor of any part or equipment defects noted during the cleaning process.
5. Monitor the shelf life of any consumables used to complete the build process. Follow all established disposal methods associated with consumable material. 
6. Provide support and assistance to other technicians and team members, as directed, and any other duties as assigned by the Cell Leader or Sr. Personnel.
7. Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with the company's rules and policies.
8. Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.

High School Diploma/GED

Work Environment:

1. Office Environment, including use of computer terminal 

2. Primarily operates in a climate-controlled, shop floor production environment

Physical Demands:

Sitting, Standing, Walking, Alternate Sitting or Standing at Will, Crouching, Pushing or Pulling, Kneeling, Lifting or Carrying an maximum of 50 LBS.

 

The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Westminster, Maryland is $18.14 per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Knorr Brake Company is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies.
