JOB DESCRIPTION:
Engineer Sub Project Manager
This highly visible role is responsible for assisting in the overall design and development of pneumatic and/or hydraulic brake components/assemblies, including brake control units, hydraulic units, Air Supply Units, brake discs, calipers, tread brakes, track brakes and controls for passenger rail transit vehicles.
The primary objectives are to develop the overall plan/RFQ to the client regarding their braking components on-time, per the customer specification, and to release high quality, accurate technical documentation.
This is a technical project management role responsible for managing cost, schedule, and technical compliance for products. This person is responsible for aspects of their assigned products, including design, generating test procedures, troubleshooting test failures, and manufacturing, quality, and purchasing support.
Other responsibilities are as defined by the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with company's rules and policies.

- Must understand and comply with applicable standards. (i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO/TS 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and CMMI).
- Maintain and safeguard business records.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Generate component and assembly designs based on customer and internal specifications and review specifications as necessary.
- Manage customer projects according to defined processes in offer and order phases in collaboration with project managers and the product engineering team.
- Project engineering of products in line with company product strategy (commenting of specifications, conducting reviews according to the defined processes).
- Consulting and supporting internal and external customers regarding topics linked with product engineering.
- Create bill of materials and keep updated.
- Generate and validate Acceptance Test Procedures.
- Development of purchase specifications/requirements.
- Provide manufacturing, purchasing, and quality support.
- Generate change documentation to update engineering documents.
- Monitor/assure component designs are specification compliant.
- Monitor and provide input to project schedules.
- Support review of manuals for the Technical Publications Department.
- Simultaneously satisfying customer needs and continual requests while not adversely affecting the project schedule, component deliverables and financial health of the program and company.
- Development of safe and reliable components which are technically and commercially superior to the competitions and meeting the minimum customer valid requirements.

PROCESS ORIENTATION:
- Must understand and practice good organization and configuration management skills.
- BOM structuring.
- Configuration/Change Control.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required: Mechanical Engineering or related coursework highly preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 6+ years of related project/product engineering experience required.
- 2+ years Product Manager or technical project management experience preferred
- 3-D design experience highly desirable
- Design/drawings review and updating experience required.
