JOB DESCRIPTION:

The MS Assembler II conducts pre-build inspections of components and performs basic mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components to build Microelecttrica units for use in the rail car industry according to drawing specifications. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with company's rules and policies.
  • Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.
  • Must understand and comply with applicable standards. ( i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO/TS 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and CMMI).
  • Maintain and safeguard business records
  • Conduct pre-build inspections of components, noting any preexisting, handling-damage, prior to beginning the build process. 
  • Utilizing approved manufacturing work instructions, use hand, pneumatic, and power tools to assemble components, according to drawing specifications, while adhering to quality requirements and best practices.
  • Test assembled units, utilizing established testing procedures.  
  • Conduct evaluations, repair and test returned units. Following established work instructions and RMA process.   
  • Inform supervisor of any part or equipment defects noted during the cleaning process.
  • Monitor the shelf life of any consumables used to complete the build process. Follow all established disposal methods associated with consumable material. 

 

In addition to position responsibilities, cell/team leader may:

  • Contribute to planning and effective resource allocation in the production or work group. 
  • Plan own work steps in cooperation with other team members, providing direction and job assignment to team members that utilizes each to the best of their abilities. 
  • Monitor availability of parts, tools and machines needed to complete product in the relevant sequential steps according to the overall assembly or work processes. 
  • Contributes to plan, execution, and analysis of the results of test routines and procedures, often in a complex environment.  
  • Assists, analyzes, and/or acts in resolving routine manufacturing related problems affecting daily operations.  Promptly report any topics from assigned area which inhibit performance, especially if expectations may not be met, to management.
  • Train and mentor personnel as requested or needed. 
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality requirements, manufacturing processes and standards for all work performed.  Notify the Production Supervisor or Segment Leader of safety concerns, product deficiencies, or design problems.

 

Technical Competencies

  • Mechanical Aptitude: equipment maintenance, mechanical inspection tools and tooling 
  • Time Management to ensure equipment is ready for scheduled repair or overhaul
