JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

The engineering test lab technician will support other engineers by conducting testing for heavy haul freight products. They will setup and operate test equipment to perform functional and endurance tests.  Other duties will include supporting our TPM program to include maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of internal equipment.

Essential Functions:

• Conducts incoming and in- process quality acceptance testing and inspections to ensure that products perform their proposed functions in a satisfactory manner.
• Monitors and manipulates the instruments and processes being used to test products. These tasks can include assembling, calibrating, improving and performing maintenance on test equipment.
• Compiles test data from performed testing and reviews test results and/or quality issues with quality manager, engineering and production supervisory personnel.
• Confers with engineering and other technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or equipment issues, malfunctions, incomplete test data and interpretation.
• Participate in internal quality control and reliability programs; performs audits of processes (including manufacturing where applicable) to ensure effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvements and initiate Nonconforming Material Reports on nonconforming or suspect material.
• Applies Basic analytical skills and some resolution in a variety of areas on a routine basis.
• May adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.
• Able to Read and Interpret Quality Procedures, Work Instructions, Inspection and Test Record.
• In some locations, may perform duties of Shift Supervisor.
• Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.

Competencies:

• Knowledge and understanding of the applicable AAR product specifications (i.e. S- 431, S-4023 and S-376).
• Basic Math, MS Word, Excel skills and SAP application knowledgeable

Experience:

2-3 years in similar environment (manufacturing, quality, engineering)

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Watertown, NY is $56,900-$85,300 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. New York Air Brake LLC is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year.
