Position can be located within an hour of any of our US locations: Salisbury, NC, West Chicago, IL, Westminster, MD, Riverside, MO, Nixa, MO or Watertown, NY


Mechanical Engineer 4 is a Sr. Mechanical Engineer. This position frequently leads development teams and has expertise in multiple key product lines with an emphasis on the large steel casting design and foundry processes.



Essential Functions

  • Design of complex products.
  • Strong understanding of large steel casting design.
  • Expert in steel casting foundry processes and tooling design.
  • Expert in Product CAD model development.
  • Lead engineering design realization of products (parts, drawings, testing, etc.).
  • Analysis of tolerances, stress/strain, statics, dynamics, heat transfer, etc.
  • Specification of engineering materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Active support/lead quality improvement teams.
  • Active support/lead Cost Reduction Teams.
  • Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  • Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Must understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.



Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient in 3D CAD Modeling.
  • Proficient in engineering analysis for robustness, quality, reliability, safety, cost.
  • Proficient in drafting and dimensioning per ANSI Y14.5/Y14.5M.
  • Proficient with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Understands imperial and metric units of measure.
  • Proficient in engineering analysis tolerances, stress/strain, statics, dynamics, heat transfer, etc.
  • Proficient with Free Body Diagram Modeling of mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Has expert knowledge of NYAB Engineering systems and processes.
  • Proficient in advanced engineering modeling.
  • Proficient in static and dynamic mechanical and pneumatic system analysis.
  • Proficient in mold flow analysis (Magma software).
  • Proficient with engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient with design FMEA.
  • Understands APQP
  • Understands system FMECA and RAMS.
  • Understands scheduling, planning, and program management.



Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

The employee will be required to perform duties on a computer terminal. In addition, the employee may be exposed to test lab conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, compressed air and electricity, etc.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of an office work environment position and a test lab environment position.



Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

5-10 + Years of Relevant Experience
