JOB DESCRIPTION:

Product Line Manager

Summary/Objective

Analyses general market, technology and product trends, in cooperation with the technology scouting of KB. Monitors customers market characteristics and the investment strategies of the most relevant key clients in the market. Creates regular reports on innovative product concepts. Carries out market and product portfolio analyses. Identifies potential for optimization and sets-up action roadmaps to be agreed by management. Coordinates activities to develop existing products and/or new products in close cooperation with the respective functions (e.g. R&D, Marketing, SCM). Steers the production of product documentations as input for further product related activities (e.g. production of marketing and sales material, certification, supplier selection, etc.). Plans the logistics concepts, from supplier to customer, in cooperation with the respective organization. Ensures product availability for sales and customer.

  • Overall responsibility for assigned product(s) profitability and market share success.
  • Establishing marketing strategies including product direction, price, place, and promotion for the assigned products.
  • Market and competition analysis - size of the market, current market share, competitors’ products and associated features, current and potential customers, factors impacting customer buying decisions
  • Develop proposals based on the customer's RFQ organizing internal resource contributions for product solutions, cost, and price. 
  • Support the sales team in making presentations to the customers and helping them to secure additional business. 
  • Developing annual business forecasts and plans for assigned products. Support Sales and Operations Planning.
  • Develop business case and product definitions to drive new product development and improvements to existing products. Develop and support market launch plans for new products.
  • Monitor product performance in the field by staying abreast of quality issues and ensuring those are expeditiously minimizing the impact on the customer and market share. Identify projects necessary to address product design or manufacturing quality issues and drive those in the organization
  • Identify projects for improving product profitability (direct material or labor cost reductions), develop business cases, and launch projects.
  • Manage projects as needed using NYAB project management processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Oversee execution of contracts/projects for assigned products - customer interface, risk management, delivery tracking etc.
  • Getting involved in the contract review process as needed to ensure contracts yield profitable business.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the management.
  • Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  • Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Must understand, support, and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) defined in the goal tree.

 

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Technically oriented - Work experience with engineering practices and new product development.
  • Understanding of Project Management principles and processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills- understanding data and making clear conclusions- sound knowledge of MS Excel
  • Good presentation and organization skills - Sound Knowledge of MS -PowerPoint
  • Proven Leadership Skills: Able to work with people at all organizational levels.
  • Customer Orientation - This is about demonstrating service and relationship orientation toward internal and external customers, satisfying their needs, and generating mutually satisfactory solutions.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment
The employee will be required to perform duties on a computer terminal. The employee may be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of an office work environment position.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering
  • 5-8 Years of Relevant Experience

 

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range for this role is $99,520-$149,280. The company reasonably expects to pay within that range, however, New York Air Brake considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
