Summary/Objective

This position requires performing routine and repetitive assembly operations and processes for passenger rail car parts in a manual manufacturing assembly line environment. The candidate works in a team environment participating in continuous improvement activities, as well as. Uses pneumatic tools, basic hand tools, and power tools (motorized drill, rivet gun, etc.). The candidate is required to perform versatile duties and is able to organize the areas around their own work place in a self-sufficient manner, within the product group.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Manufactures quality parts, following specific work instructions
  2. Provides verbal and written status of manufacturing progress
  3. Applies and handles sealants and adhesives
  4. Performs acceptance test procedures utilizing specific test equipment
  5. May train others in manufacturing methods.
  6. Keeps assigned areas organized and clean per set principles
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
  8. Understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  9. Understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  10. Understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
  11. Understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment:

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms.

Required Education and Experience

This position requires analytical skills and the ability to interpret information to take the appropriate action.

 

Education and Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or experience/knowledge as determined by management  in a production environment or equivalent business environment

  • Must possess basic Math skills and be able to comprehend varying units of measure
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, and take the initiative
  • Ability to understand and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics/drawings
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read, comprehend written and process specification documents
