Maintenance Technician II

1st shift, $30-32/hr depending on experience

Summary/Objective

The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for preventive maintenance activities, troubleshooting and repairing all production related equipment throughout the plant.

 

 

Essential Functions

  1. Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance activities per written instructions and job knowledge of the specific piece of equipment to prevent breakdowns. Communicate improvement ideas (add/subtract) element to the PM instructions to help improve the equipment OEE.
  2. Respond timely to an equipment breakdown to trouble-shoot root-cause of problem, identify possible solutions and implement the solutions. These activities may include identifying and selecting components required to complete the repair.
  1. Communicate equipment status with operators and appropriate management personnel.   
  2. Utilize hand tools, screwdrivers, wrenches, multi-meter, pipe threader
  3. Requires work outside of and inside of the machines. Requires various positions for a few minutes to a few hours, such as balancing on narrow footing, climbing, reaching forward/overhead, squatting, kneeling, stooping and/or lying on back, and maneuvering in small tight spaces. Surfaces may be slippery due to coolant and oil. Work off ladders and scissor lift.
  4. Comply with all safety procedures and policies.    
  5. Understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  6. Adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  7. Must understand, support, and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
  8. Select and recommend repair parts, work with and communicate materials needed to complete repair.
  9. Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

    • Requires working knowledge of industrial machining, plant systems, building maintenance, repair and troubleshooting.

    • Must have working knowledge and comply with all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedure and have the ability to identify hazardous energy sources and isolate.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment:

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Capable of standing on hard surfaces up to eight hours per day
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, with ease
  • Able to carry 50 pounds without assistance, 25 feet
  • Able to lift from waist to overhead, 50 pounds using both hands
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment, which can expose one to loud noises, dust, chemicals and varying temperatures
  • Ability to reach, grasp, handle and manipulate items with hands
  • Ability to walk, bend, climb, twist, stoop, and squat
  • Ability to wear and use proper personal protective equipment; safety glasses, face shield, gloves, ear plugs or earmuffs, and steel-toed safety compliant footwear.
  • Normal concentration/intensity; normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information. Complexity of decision making; normal time pressure of decision making.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  2. 2 – 5+ years of relevant experience

The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Springfield, MO is $30.00 -32.00 per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. New York Air Brake is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation leave.  Employees will also enjoy 10 paid holidays, and 2 personal holidays throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements.
