JOB DESCRIPTION:

Senior Accountant (2-3)

 

Position Summary:

 

This highly visible position has the responsibility for the accounting and reporting of R&D costs and related engineering activities. This specifically includes the analysis of the capitalization of intangible engineering development costs as they relate to IAS38 and IFRS15. This position will work with business units and accounting to develop and post entries monthly for IFRS. This position is the focal point for IFRS compliance and R&D governance.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Serve as Functional Controlling expert for IAS 38 and IFRS 15 identifying process improvements and internal controls to ensure the timely delivery of accurate costs
  • Assist the R&D Controller on the project activities and collaboration within Bendix and the Global R&D stakeholders.
  • Developing and posting month end entries, intangible asset management in SAP and monthly account reconciliations including other accounting close activities.
  • Regular reviews with Engineering staff throughout the life of a development project focusing on data (Planisware) application through SAP Internal Orders to SAP Intangible Assets
  • Serve as liaison between Engineering and Finance on all matters relating to recording development labor in CATS (Later transition to Planisware) and reporting project costs on SAP Internal Orders. This will require understanding explaining financial terms to non-financial project managers and teams.
  • Assist Finance, Accounting, and business units in the development of budget data for both MOP and Outlook process including capitalization of costs, estimate of amortization for projects and customer NRE forecast
  • Support the audit requirements and the requests (Internal and External)
  • Regular reviews with business unit finance directors to determine engineering projects for the appropriate IFRS Accounting treatment.
  • Provide reporting to tax team related to R&D and other engineering spend
  • Special projects as assigned by manager

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS including accounting principles and procedures.
  • Solid understanding of engineering and project management activities.
  • Excellent level of analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project/ process management skills  
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills  

 

Experience:

Accountant 2

  • 2-5 years of experience in general accounting within a manufacturing or public accounting environment.
  • IFRS experience or US GAAP experience strongly desired.
  • SAP or other ERP experience strongly preferred.

 

Accountant 3

  • 4-7 years of experience in general accounting within a manufacturing or public accounting environment.
  • IFRS experience or US GAAP experience strongly desired.
  • SAP or other ERP experience strongly preferred.

 

Skills:

 

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel).
  • Able to correspond to all levels of management confidently and efficiently.
  • Advanced independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Shows commitment to process improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, Oral, and written communication skills

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field required.
  • MBA or CPA Preferred  
  • Accounting major strongly preferred.
