Warehouse Supervisor

Summary/Objective

 

Supervise and assist in daily warehouse areas including receiving, shipping, handling distribution, and storage of all freight, product, and supplies that come in and out of the warehouse.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Daily interaction in a professional and ethical manner with site personnel and/or customers, vendors and carriers to coordinate freight services to support manufacturing schedules and customer orders.
  2. Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties.
  3. Supervise a team of warehouse employees, including hiring, delegation, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and termination.
  4. Maintain control over inventory levels in order to meet internal and external demand of product and working capital objectives.
  5. Investigate causes of lost or damaged shipments and other matters, make adjustments where necessary.
  6. Ability to coach, train, and lead work teams to achieve performance as it relates to specialization in receiving, processing, storage, order picking, loading and unloading.
  7. Follow any and all company policies, procedures, practices and standards of conduct as outlined by Knorr Bremse & NYAB manuals and any US Customs Compliance regulations necessary.
  8. Coordinate with logistics/planning personnel on any shipment related issues.
  9. Assist in achieving KPS (Knorr Production System), SCE (Supply Chain Excellence) and Delivery Quality Initiatives
  10. Maintains inventory by helping/assisting when necessary daily/monthly cycle counts, reconciling variances, inputting data
  11. Implement and monitor 5S practices in the warehouse and related areas
  12. Keeps equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.

Skills and Competencies

 

  1. Technical Capacity
    • Basic knowledge of SAP
    • Demonstrated understanding of basic manufacturing and warehousing processes.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word & Excel
  2. Ability to work in a team environment with a cross functional team of traffic, customs, purchasing, sales and other SBU locations.
  3. Effective leadership skills in a multifunctional, demanding environment.
  4. Communication Proficiency
  5. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously   
  6. Strong organizational and prioritization skills

 

Supervisory Responsibility

Work Environment

The employee will be required to perform duties on a computer terminal. The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of an office work environment position.

 

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor Degree in Business/SCM/Logistics or 5 years relevant experience
