JOB DESCRIPTION:

Project Manager

 

Designs develop and manage R&D projects, and interacts with personnel at all stages throughout all stages of the development process, according to respective PM guidelines.

 

Essential Functions

  • Managing multiple projects through closure which will require a detailed project plan complete with WBS, requirements, milestones, risks, and plan of execution.
  • Responsible for scheduling necessary meetings with resources and stakeholders, acting as a facilitator, and providing clear documentation, minutes, and communication to all involved with the project.
  • Work with the project team to create, update, and maintain a master schedule with a strong emphasis on understanding impacts, resource allocation, deficiency needs, and time constraints.
  • Conduct lessons learned and best practices for project reviews.
  • Author authority for development requests for preliminary and full project funding as appropriate. Managing the execution of projects and/or working products.
  • All Scrum Master responsibilities.
  • Sprint Planning and monitoring; which includes driving estimations (story level and LSE).
  • Execute release plans developed with the product owner.
  • Manage project scope to ensure minimal to no deviations occur.
  • Monitor and Manage Project Budget, submitting PAFs/PCR timely.
  • Manage project risks and opportunities using the Risk Register.
  • Conduct project deep dives to project teams and Senior Leadership when required.
  • Use JIRA to track and monitor team progress and create necessary dashboards or reports.

  • Understanding development, design, and PMI processes is critical to success in this role.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and communicating extremely effectively is required.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding and experience managing high-profile, high-risk projects.

  • Managing & Improving Processes - Describes the ability to plan, prioritize, monitor, and improve, work processes and allocate resources.
  • Experience with Microsoft Projects, Word, Excel, and Visio
  • Strategy & Vision - Describes the ability to develop strategies aligned to the organization's vision, putting them into action and taking a big-picture view, considering future influences.
  • Is familiar with rational and/or defect tracking tools (using Jira or Integrity to track and analyze defects).
  • Familiarity with SAP is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with the rail or transportation industry is a plus.

 

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
The employee will be required to perform duties on a computer terminal. The employee may be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of an office work environment position.

 

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field of study required. Engineering degree highly preferred.

2+ Years of Relevant Experience

Possessing SCRUM Master Certification or in the absence of that, being willing to get this certification would be required within 6 months of hire.

Possessing Project Management Professional Certification or willingness to get same required within 1 year of hire.
