JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Project Manager supports R&D projects, throughout all stages of the development process, according to respective PM guidelines.

 

Essential Functions

  • All Scrum Master responsibilities.
  • Managing multiple projects through closure which will require a detailed project plan complete with WBS, requirements, milestones, risks and plan of execution.
  • Responsible for scheduling necessary meetings with resources and stakeholders, act as a facilitator and provide clear documentation, minutes and communication to all involved with project.
  • Work with project team to create, update, and maintain master schedule with strong emphasis on understanding impacts, resource allocation and deficiency needs and time constraints.
  • Conduct lessons learned and best practices for project reviews.
  • Author authority for development requests for preliminary and full project funding as appropriate. Managing the execution of projects and/or working products.
  • Sprint Planning and monitoring; which includes driving estimations (story level and LSE).
  • Execute release plans developed with product owner.
  • Manage project scope to ensure minimal to no deviations occur.
  • Monitor and Manage Project Budget, submitting PAF’s/PCR’s timely.
  • Manage project risks and opportunities using Risk Register.
  • Conduct project deep dives to project teams and Senior Leadership when required.
  • Use JIRA to track and monitor team progress and create necessary dashboards or reports.
  • Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Must understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

 

Skills and Competencies

 

  • Understands development, design, and PMI processes.
  • Has experience with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Visio.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and communicating extremely effectively.
  • Has a clear understanding and experience managing high profile, high risk projects.
  • Is familiar with rational and/or defect tracking tools (using Jira or Integrity to track and analyze defects).
  • Familiarity of SAP is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity of rail or transportation industry is a plus.
  • Communication Skills - Comprises the ability to speak, present, write, listen and distribute information effectively and create an environment for open communication.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
The employee will be required to perform duties on a computer terminal. The employee may be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of an office work environment position.

 

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration

2-5+ Years of Relevant Experience

SCRUM Master Certification required within 6 months

Project Management Professional Certification required within 1 year
