JOB DESCRIPTION:
IT Security Architect
Position Summary:
We are searching for a highly accomplished IT Security Architect to join our dynamic global team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the security field and will work closely with IT management and staff to implement and maintain robust security standards, best practices, and systems to protect the assets of Knorr-Bremse.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in information systems, current IT security practices, and technologies, as well as a solid understanding of established IT security controls and methodologies. They will also possess knowledge of policy concerns related to IT security and privacy and relevant laws. In addition to technical skills, the candidate will have strong communication abilities, the capability to establish and nurture positive relationships with management, internal and external technical staff, and the ability to mentor and guide team members.
Essential Functions:
Strategy & Planning:
- Research and stay informed of potential information security threats, industry trends, emerging technologies, and response alternatives
- Recommend improvements to information security policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Conduct research and provide insight to identify, assess, and deploy security technology solutions and through vendors, including but not limited to encryption, firewalls, authorization, authentications, intrusion detection, and gateway security controls
- Monitor and proactively recommend solutions for correcting issues related to security technology performance and capabilities of vendors
- Collaborate on critical technology projects to ensure that security issues are addressed throughout the project life cycle
- Serve as a technical subject matter resource providing expertise in the security domain and providing technical direction to lead appropriate work on security-related projects
- Balance business needs against security concerns to articulate issues and recommend options
- Technical responsibility for conception, planning/design and possibly implementation of IT Security Projects
- Assist in the evaluation and use of security technologies and tools
- Work in an advisory role in application development or acquisition projects to assess security requirements and controls to ensure that security controls are implemented as planned
- IT security third-level support for IT organizations globally.
- Participate in the design, development, and delivery of security training programs and individual classes
- Active participation on the Knorr-Bremse Incident Response Team (CERT)
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of technological trends and developments in technology relating to security and risk management
- Strong understanding of information security controls, risks, and threats
- Understand and experience with network protocols, Microsoft Windows Server environments, VMWare Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft IIS, and other enterprise-wide applications
- Strong knowledge of enterprise security technologies, e.g. Client, Server and Mobile Device Security, Anti Malware, Encryption, LAN, WAN, Firewalls and Cloud Technologies and solutions
- Knowledge of Information Security audit and assessment methodologies, policies, standards, procedures, and best practice
- Knowledgeable about tracking and understanding emerging security practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Familiarity with national security standards organizations and industry leaders in security excellence, e.g. ISO/IEC 27000 series
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, JavaScript, Perl, and Python are desired.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 + years of professional experience in the technical implementation of IT security solutions and the application of IT security standards
- Completed studies in the field of computer science or comparable training/experience

- Highly self-motivated and take direction from the global team on security-related topics
- Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to make technical decisions with limited resources and precedence
- Very strong customer service orientation
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and a positive/proactive work ethic.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security or a related field of study is highly preferred.
- Associate degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, and at least 3 years of additional work experience in a 2nd/3rd level IT Security role.
- Certified Authorization Professional (CAP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Security + and/or ITIL V3 Foundation (or higher) are desirable certifications.
