JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a Weekend Day Shift Position - Friday - Sunday 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, overtime as needed

 

POSITION SUMMARY:                                                                                               

This person is responsible for leading the day to day production activities to achieve performance goals in the areas or safety, quality, cost, and delivery, in a high performing work team environment. Must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect safety, part quality, production efficiency, continuous improvement, etc. The Production Supervisor will also have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be an innovator and change agent.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide leadership for all activities for assigned production areas and the team members and communicate with other shifts to ensure consistency and meet priorities.
  • Drive operations to ensure production quality and quantity targets are achieved.
  • Establish strong and effective working relationships that are conducive to maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Ensure that team members are trained, in accordance to the Training Policy, understand their roles and responsibilities, and are given appropriate performance feedback. 
  • Communicate with team members providing positive feedback when appropriate and addressing disciplinary actions when necessary.  Hold daily start up meetings.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; and recommending actions to department manager and human resources.
  • Maintain team member attendance using the eTIME system daily to ensure proper points and payroll accuracy.
  • Promote and drives the organizations vision and utilization of KPS (Lean Manufacturing) methodologies.
  • Promote and drive continuous improvement by collecting loss data and reviewing frequently.
  • Provide operations information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Promote team work and maintain strong, positive employee relations.
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures and policies; address issues and lack of compliance.
  • Maintain shop floor engagement and presence to ensure employee and customer needs are met.  Expected to spend 80% of time in the production area.
  • Work closely with team members across departments to establish priorities ensuring on-time shipments to customers, meeting quality expectations, and other activities as needed.
  • Understand and adhere to current company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, including ISO14001. Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regard to safety, health, and environmental concerns.
  • Understand current company quality policies and procedures, including IATF16949. Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regard to product quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Including coverage in other departments/shifts as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or other similar field, preferred.
  • Two years experience supervising a team of 20 or more in a manufacturing environment with lean methodologies.
  • Innovative
  • Demonstrated experience in motivating and leading people and driving a positive work environment is required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.  Statistical evaluation software familiarity a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles.
  • Greenbelt Certification preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekend.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases.  Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions.  Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above
