JOB DESCRIPTION:
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of this position The primary responsibility of this position is to assemble products from components produced internally and externally while ensuring all quality standards are met. Under general supervision, the incumbent must maintain assembly line volume standards while completing tasks that require a large degree of mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. Responsibilities captioned below are considered essential job functions:
is to refit and install Miter box. Must be capable of performing all Assembler tasks and maintain the required pace to meet all assembly line production standards. May act in a lead or training role and will perform under minimum supervision.
• Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts (essential job function)
• Assemble and install integral miter boxes into steering gear assemblies (essential job function)
• Record and document torque data onto test sheets stored in the AS400 system (essential job function)
• Responsible for communicating when a problem situation occurs and/or when parts do not fit together properly; minimizes miter fit-up problems by communicating with department supervisor and miter box assembly personnel; participates in refit meetings (essential job function)
• Interprets blue prints carefully to ensure proper parts are installed onto power steering units in the proper locations
• Assist Refitters with training needs and continue to master the assembly of new steering gears
• Provide new assembly employees with training (three weeks training program) and provide on-going training and support to current assembly employees
• Perform basic tool and machine maintenance including checking oil levels and minor repairs
• Responsible for providing support in bottleneck areas to keep assembly flow moving and to assure maximum efficiency
• Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Assembly Refitter:
• Must be cross-trained on all equipment
• Ability to refit
• Demonstrates leadership qualities, be self-motivated and self-disciplined.
• Analytical, problem solving skills
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease, and coolants from the operation of machine tools and assembly of machines and equipment. Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant. Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed. The weight can range anywhere from 1 to 75 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required. Assembly personnel are required to be very flexible in their daily job assignments, cross-training is a must to assure this flexibility.
EDUCATION & MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Two years in a production assembly role
WORKING HOURS
Monday-Friday
6am to 2pm core hours + overtime
