JOB DESCRIPTION:

Utility Inspector

 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibility of this position is to inspect products from components produced internally by 3 to 8 machine operators, while ensuring all quality standards are met.  Incumbent must follow inspection QCI’s (Quality Control Instructions) and process control charts.  Performs sample, audit, and 100% inspections as appropriate on in process and final parts.  Must be capable of performing all Inspector tasks.  May act in a lead or training role and will perform under minimum supervision.  Responsibilities captioned below are considered essential job functions:

 

•             Responsible for inspection of the work performed by several machine operators as directed by the Plant Quality Control Supervisor. 

•             May be assigned to work in other related areas, i.e. Receiving Inspection, Gage Calibration, etc as needed 

•             Assist Inspectors with training needs and provide support in bottleneck areas to keep inspection flow moving to assure maximum efficiency

•             Rotate every month to a different workstation for a full month at a time to stay current and continue cross-training 

•             Other duties as assigned

Inspector II:

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Inspector I:

 

•             Ability to lift items over 40 lbs repetitively

•             Ability to work well under pressure

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:  General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease, and coolants from the operation of machine tools and assembly of machines and equipment.  Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant.  Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed.  The weight can range anywhere from 1 to 75 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required.  Assembly personnel are required to be very flexible in their daily job assignments, cross-training is a must to assure this flexibility.

 

EDUCATION &MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

 

Two years in an Inspector II role preferred; One year in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend plans and/or blue prints
