The incumbent is responsible for leading the day-to-day production line orkflow and activities on a specific line or lines to achieve performance goals in the areas of safety, quality, cost, delivery and KPS , in a high performing work team environment. Must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect safety, part quality, production efficiency, continuous improvement, etc. Acts as a coach and technical advisor to the work area team.

  • Leads shift and DMS meetings.
  • Communicates relevant information with immediate team and alternate shifts.
  • Maintains KPIs and updates DMS boards accordingly.
  • Assures lines are running efficiently through assignment of resources.
  • Addresses and escalates people, machine, method and material deviations as necessary.
  • Counts parts as necessary.
  • Ensures performance of autonomous maintenance activities.
  • Ensures and validates shift activities are performed; includes planning, quality checks, and OEE system updates, including hour-by-hour bottleneck station tracking.
  • Prepares set-up packets for changeovers.
  • Partners with logistics for planning, including attendance in daily meetings.
  • Partners with PTL(s) to provide input to training matrices in effort to ensure manpower flexibility.
  • Establishes strong and effective working relationships that are conducive to maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Ensures team members are trained, in accordance with training matrices and onboarding plans, understand their roles and responsibilities, and are given appropriate performance feedback.
  • Promotes and drives the organization’s vision and utilization of KPS (Lean Manufacturing) methodologies.
  • Ensures compliance with all company procedures and policies; addresses issues and lack of compliance through coaching and feedback and escalates as necessary.
  • Provides interviewing support as necessary.
  • Understands and adheres to current company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, including ISO14001.  Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding safety, health, and environmental concerns.
  • Understands and adheres to current company quality policies and procedures, including IATF16949.  Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding product quality. Uses standard inspection equipment or CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to check parts produced.  Inspects parts to operator QCI (Quality Control Instructions) requirements.
  • Responsible for first piece inspection by assuring all print tolerances are held after set-up and accurately completes job cards.  Fills out SPC (Statistical Process Control) charts and all charts required for the operation, where applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including coverage on line and in other departments/shifts as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has supervisory responsibilities as it relates to workflow.  This role is not responsible for management of personnel but will be competent in basic conflict resolution and problem solving.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Experience in production/manufacturing environment 
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles
  • Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

In performing the essential elements of this position, the following physical activities are required. The activities are measured in the amount of on-the-job time that is spent performing these activities.

        

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases.  Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions.  Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
