JOB DESCRIPTION:

UNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibility of this position is to inspect products from components produced internally, while ensuring all quality standards are met.  Incumbent must follow inspection QCI’s (Quality Control Instructions) for the fiber optic inspection of castings.  Incumbent will work under minimal supervision.  Responsibilities captioned below are considered essential job functions:

•    Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
•    Perform various inspection jobs per written instructions 
•    Responsible for the operation of the fiber optic equipment 
•    Responsible for the operation of the ultrasonic (UT) inspection instrument and UT inspection process as outlined in the Quality Instructions.
•    Checks BHN by using Quality Control Instructions to determine frequency and gages needed 
•    Assists in removing internal flashing, sand, etc. from castings with blocked internal passages by using small hand tools and air guns 
•    Prepare castings for shipment by placing them in shipping containers 
•    Verify the quality of the first piece produced by Grinders; routinely audits as required
•    Utilize computer terminal to enter and retrieve data concerning B+N and lab status 
•    May use the following equipment and gages:  Ultrasound unit, wall thickness gage, fiber optic unit, calipers, vernier, scale, test weights and gogan hardness tester 
•    Will work with tolerances from 0 to 1/16, + 1 pound
•    Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job  
       assignments

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

eneral shop and machine tool noise, dirt, dust, sand, grease, high temperatures and fumes from the operation of machines and equipment.  Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant.  Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed.  Physical ability to wear respirator and safety equipment required. The weight can range anywhere from 1 to 95 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required.  

WORKING HOURS

Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm core hours + overtime
