JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

The Safety & Health Generalist is responsible for the overall support and integration of the facility’s safety processes and systems. This individual will assist plant operations in identifying, correcting and implementing safety strategies to reduce risks to people and property. This position will assist in the development and implementation of safety strategies to meet the needs of our World Class Management (WCM) system.

Essential Duties:

•             Maintain & update safety and health policies and procedures.

•             Evaluation of safety Hazards, Risks and Impacts.

•             Develops, implements, and participates in safety programs.

•             Develops and conducts safety training to the workforce.

•             Lead ergonomic evaluations and training.

•             Participate in Safety Pillar and Model Area activities.

•             Design and provide hazard analysis required for Standardized Work Instructions and related forms.

•             Conduct audits and evaluations, perform job safety analysis (JSA), prepare reports, and conduct follow-up on actions.

•             Coordinate Industrial Hygiene exposure assessments and follow up on the results.

•             Integrate requirements into procedures, work instructions and controls.

•             Maintain safety awareness and a positive attitude towards incident prevention.

•             Assist Managers and Supervisors in incident investigation/prevention follow up.

•             Evaluate injury statistics, suggest actions for incident prevention.

•             Monitoring implementation of corrective actions.

•             Understands and adhere to current safety and health. Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding safety and health concerns.

•             Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Knowledge:

•             Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT and RCRA regulations.

•             Training and certifications in RCRA, DOT, HAZWOPER and OSHA are preferred.

 Required Skills: 

•             Must be passionate for the protection of workers and property.

•             Possess strong shop floor presence, and able to communicate with various layers of the organization.

•             Strong written & verbal communication skills are required.

•             Able to prioritize, organize and multi-task work assignments based on changing and challenging deadlines.

•             Must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

•             Develop and implement standards and procedures within corporate guidelines

•             Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.

•             Ability to lead, motivate, train and positively influence others.

•             Technical proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Power Point.

Experience:

•             2+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

•             Prior experience developing and delivering safety and health related trainings to all levels within an organization.

Education:

•             Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Health, Safety, Environmental or related area.
