JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary

Operates on assembly line in singular, static area working in tandem with other assemblers to fully assemble a steering gear. Receives a completely machined rotary valve from assembly line. Utilizes both manual and mechanical means to install recirculating balls into recirculating thread. Inspects and verifys proper application, ensuring functionality between rotary valve and piston. Facilitates movement down assembly line to other stations.

Essential Duties

1.         Install, verify, and test application of recirculating

2.         Performs job duties from verbal and written instructions while interpreting blueprints, drawings, and other work orders.

3.         Ensures compliance with current Technical Specifications (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) accepted manufacturing practices.

4.         Sets up, cleans, and inspect tools. Cell, store and/or load in machine as required.

5.         Obtains tools, fixtures, jigs, details, etc. as required.

6.         Performs machine offsets, program changes, and/or adjustments and replacements to assure required quality and machine operation.

7.         Programs, edits, and maintains Material Management Controllers (MMC) for center.

8.         Performs first piece sheet and audit inspections daily.

9.         Adheres to established safety procedures and 5 “S” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts weighing 40lbs or more.

10.       Operates equipment to highest production and quality standards daily.

11.       Operates computerized gauging for data collection and quality verification.

12.       Maintains all fluid levels of equipment and reports malfunctions and safety issues to supervisor or maintenance as soon as possible.

13.       Verifys that own work is in compliance with requirements and correct errors in own work, minimizing scrap.

14.       Checks part numbers and places them in appropriate shipping containers.

15.       Performs and reviews Statistical Process Control (SPC); including but not limited to: data collection, charts, and graphs.

16.       Performs record-keeping duties and maintain accurate production counts.

17.       Adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Incumbent is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to safety, health, and environmental concerns.

18.       Awareness of current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Incumbent is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to product quality.

19.       Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1.         High school diploma or equivilant.

2.         Associate’s in Machining Technology is preferred.

3.         One year of work experience in a manufacturing operation is preferred.

4.         One year of machining experience preferred.

5.         Must be able to obtain certification

6.         Knowledge of Shop math.

7.         Problem solving/troubleshooting skills.

8.         Ability to stand, stoop, bend and lift from the floor, walk, reach frequently throughout the workday.

9.         Must be able to work in a team enviornment.

Physical Requirements

In performing the essential elements of this position, the following physical activities are required. The activities are measured in the amount of on-the-job time that is spent performing these activities.

Continuously stand, walk, and interact with assigned station and tools for the duration of the shift. General shop machine tool noise, dirt, grease, and coolants from the operation of machine tools, machines, and equipment. The weight can range up to 40 lbs. In which proper lifting/moving techniques are required.

Working Hours

Monday-Friday 6am-2pm core hours + OT
