JOB DESCRIPTION:

                       

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibility of this position is to disassemble and refit assembly parts.  Must be capable of performing all Assembler tasks and maintain the required pace to meet all assembly line production standards.  May act in a lead or training role and will perform under minimum supervision.

•           Disassembles, troubleshoots and repairs all rejected steering gear units from the test department (essential job function)

•           Performs any basic and complex assemblies that may be required to maintain the necessary production levels (essential job function)

•           Responsible for diagnosing a problem when parts do not fit together properly; Minimizes refit problems by communicating with assembly and test stand supervisors and by participating in monthly refit meetings, as required (essential job function)

•           Interprets “product structure” carefully to ensure proper parts are installed into power steering unit (essential job function)

•           Maintains tools and equipment used and keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner; uses cleanup time given during shift to achieve this task

•           Perform basic tool and machine maintenance including checking oil levels and minor repairs

•           Responsible for providing support in bottleneck areas to keep assembly flow moving and to assure maximum efficiency

•           Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job assignments; cross-training is a must to assure this flexibility

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES         

In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Pump Assembler :

•           Ability to lift items up to 75lbs without assistance

•           Mechanical aptitude

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease, and coolants from the operation of machine tools and assembly of machines and equipment.  Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant.  Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed.  The weight can range anywhere from 1 to 75 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required

 

EDUCATION & MINIMUM EXPERIENCE   

One year in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend plans and/or blue prints.  One year in a production assembly role       

High school diploma or GED required.   

 

WORKING HOURS
