JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining our common facility areas not specifically dedicated to a Value Stream or department to reflect world class manufacturing standards. The Facilities Custodian shall also provide assistance to the Facility team and HSE as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  1. Cleans, sweeps, mops, and buffs main production floor aisles and other common areas not specific to a value stream. Operates various pieces of cleaning equipment and lifts as needed.
  2. Ensures cleanliness of all facility restrooms, cafeteria, and other common areas.
  3. Performs entry-level utility, housekeeping, and maintenance support activities.
  4. Maintains cleaning supplies and inventory approved to use in the cleaning equipment and on the floors. Works with HSE to ensure cleaning supplies and chemicals are approved for use.
  5. Keeps building entrances and parking lot free of snow and debris.
  6. Is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the landscaping and facilities outside of the production facility.
  7. Coordinates the recycling program and waste streams to ensure the plant is reducing landfill waste.
  8. Participates in department/shift/team meetings.
  9. Executes all work activities with the highest standards for safety, quality, cost, and schedules.
  10. Follows all aspects of Standardized Work Instructions.
  11. Monitors and maintains plant housekeeping and 5-S Standards
  12. Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental (ISO14001) policies.
  13. Understands and adhere to current quality and control (TS16949) policies.
  14. Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Completion of a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or related trade school education. 

 

Must have the mechanical aptitude to use tools to perform minor equipment repairs.

 

Must be able to effectively communicate with employees of the organization.

 

Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

 

Must be able to effectively multi-task assignments.

 

Maintains good attendance in accordance with Bendix attendance policy, including working overtime as requirements.
