JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Title:              Release Manager

Position Summary:

 

At Bendix, our employees collaborate globally to design and commercialize advanced commercial vehicles safety systems. 

 

As a System Release Manager, this individual is responsible for creating and maintaining alignment of Product Owner, technical managers, Quality managers, Functional Safety managers, and other leaders to ensure timely and complete system releases.   

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Responsible for the Release Management lifecycle that involves the stages such as plan the release of project deliverables, scheduling the release, coordinating between teams, and deployment of releases per overall program schedule. 
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline technical development team to develop, document, and communicate project release plans during backlog refinement and release planning events. 
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure releases are delivered on time and that they meet defined expectations resulting in release signoff. 
  • Manage the detailed content of each release. Ensure key stakeholders are made aware of any deviations and restrictions associated with each release. 
  • Maintain a release log with key information such as software build and release details, hardware pedigrees, system dependencies, defect item resolution, and user restrictions. 
  • Provide relevant coaching, training, and support to champion Release management culture. 
  • Travel up to 10% per year to customer sites to support in-person project status reviews and some international travel to Europe and Mexico for team development. 

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Knowledge of Scrum and Agile
  • Understanding of major functional and cross-functional business processes and related metrics. (Engineering, Operations, Financial, Marketing, and Sales)
  • Understanding and utilization of business, management and people processes needed for overall success.
  • Market and product trends in the industry
  • Methods to validate assumptions via experimentation

 

 

       

 

 

Experience:

 

  • Experience as a Release Manager or Project Manager from project initiation to final system release of a complex system or product.
  • 3-5 years of working experience in automotive, aerospace, rail, or similar industry providing releasing hardware and software-based control systems.
  • Expertise in requirements management tools such as Integrity PTC, DOORS, or similar.
  • Experience using Jira or similar task management system with status reporting design a plus.
  • Agile Scrum development environment experience is a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of formal and informal discussions and advocating for a decision that moves the organization forward; has professional presence.
  • Ability to inspire and build teams of teams and partners around a vision. 
  • Ability to clearly visualize the future of a complex product in terms of releases of visible customer value.

 

 

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant technical fields.
  • Agile training and certification desired
