JOB DESCRIPTION:

Project Manager

                        

Position Summary:

 

This highly visible position will manage projects throughout all stages of the project process, according to the guidelines, for middle, local or regional and/or categorized projects.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Ensures project(s)/subproject(s) progress is on schedule and within budget. Able to stay within project costs, quality, and timing commitments.
  • Assists in driving and directing cross-functional teams and coordinating multi-functional activities to meet milestones and deliver projects/subprojects on plan.
  • Contributes to and helps lead to the resolution of critical issues during the entire cycle of the project(s).
  • Assist in creating and maintaining business cases for new opportunities based on product line and customer strategies.
  • Support product life cycle management strategy and assigned projects/subprojects to enable the fulfillment of strategic plan commitments.
  • Tracks and participates in the assigned project(s) relating to productivity or product introduction.
  • Participate in process improvement projects.
  • Provides direction and organization for others to follow to allow project work to flow to completion. Creates a vision for the product
  • Develops a roadmap for rolling out product
  • Builds and orders the backlog to maximize value
  • Spends 50% of time interfacing with customers and stakeholders
  • Truly accountable for the product

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Basic knowledge of business and management processes needed for successful project completion.
  • Working knowledge of planning budgets, and financial analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of project management techniques and best practices.
  • Familiar with industry standards as well as internal Bendix standards. 
  • Knowledge to carry out a process or procedure based on deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable with risk/opportunity factors and can act accordingly.

 

 

 

Experience:

 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in supply chain, engineering, or manufacturing project management, with 2 years being a functional representative/lead.
  • Experience in an automotive or transportation environment preferred.

 

Skills:

 

  • Ability to help budget and to consider different budget strategies when involved in making decisions on the project management team.
    • Ability to influence without the authority to do so.

 

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships; capable of formal and informal discussions with a professional presence.
  • Must have strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to think and act in a structured way.
  • Will work to tight deadlines regardless of possible setbacks and pressure.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to recognize what type of Project Management tool is required in the given situation and to adapt appropriately.
  • Focused on driving results and reaching goals.
  • Knowledge of Project Management procedures, methods, and tools

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering required; Master’s degree in related profession a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent preferred.
  • Greenbelt certification a plus
