JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Title:             Engineering Manager - Test and Simulation (Platform)

Reports To:                Director, Platform Services

Position Summary:

 

Responsible for driving the execution of Test Automation and Simulation (HIL/SIL) across all of our Product Development.  Support Component Engineering with Test Service.  Use best practices in Test Automation for all Electronics Products.  Will work closely with SfN teams for Tools and Calculations and Test services for best practices and strategies. This position will lead Bendix growth in the methods to increase the use of simulations and automations. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Drive Growth in Test Automation, Simulation (HIL/SIL), and Test Methodology.
  • Continue to drive and align our Virtual testing and Simulation (HIL/SIL) Methods and Tools.
  • Align and develop our Engineering Test teams to use best processes for Automation, Data Acquisition and Post processing approvals.
  • Provides strong direction, decisions, and actions, including adjustments to project in Simulation (HIL/SIL) and Test Automation.
  • Motivates others through positive interactions on our Simulation (HIL/SIL) and Automation Testing Roadmap.
  • Solicits and provides feedback while managing the flow of Automation and Simulation (HIL/SIL) Project Completion.
  • Creates and executes a Vision for Automation and Simulation (HIL/SIL).
  • Develops and manages a roadmap for Automation and Simulation (HIL/SIL).
  • Highly effective at conveying ideas.
  • Strong ability to lead, influence, build and coach effective teams.

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Expert technical knowledge relative to Automation and Simulation (HIL/SIL) principles and methodologies.
  • Expert understanding of engineering development and processes.
  • Accomplished in organizing, managing, and completing projects to measurable targets.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of phase gate approach to product development projects.
  • Knowledge of product launch and project management tools including Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

 

Experience:

 

  • 7+ years’ experience in Engineering Development, 3-5 years’ managing development projects.
  • Experience in an automotive or transportation environment preferred.

 

Skills:

 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large scale projects, budget and to consider different budget strategies when involved in making decisions teams.
  • Highly skilled in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word etc.).
  • Excellent cross-functional time, task, and resource management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and assist in managing conflicts on project teams.
  • Experience with presentation skills – including preparation or presentation and the use of different presentation media and techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; capable of formal and informal discussions; has a professional presence.
  • Proven ability to think and act in a structured way.
  • Works effectively to tight deadlines regardless of possible setbacks and stress.
  • Proven capability of managing up and down matrix organization.
  • Highly-motivated and able to assist in motivating and providing direction for teams.
  • Excellent tactical and evolving strategic problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to recognize what type of tool is required in the given situation and to adapt appropriately.
  • Has displayed leadership and is seen as a leader by peers.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required; Master’s a plus.
  • Greenbelt certification or equivalent certification desired
