JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

 

This position is responsible for assisting the Tax Manager with U.S. Federal, state, local, and international tax compliance, year-end provision, income tax audits, tax notices, and analysis of new tax legislation.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Lead the preparation of tax returns support work papers, corporate proformas and consolidation.
  • Create, maintain and update financial reports and analysis as needed for tax consolidation.
  • Lead the gathering and reconciliation of data required for international compliance (Mexico & Canada) and transfer pricing reports.
  • Reconcile multiple accounts under IFRS compliance methods for interim and year -end provisions.
  • Analyze historical information and respond to inquiries from various taxing jurisdictions, German parent holding company, and provide support for tax audits.
  • Reviews corporate taxes, tax guidelines and internal controls to ensure company policies meet regulatory requirements, fiscal rules and history practices.
  • Perform reconciliations of tax general ledger accounts.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Assist in M&A analysis, PE assessments, and other as-needed projects.
  • Examine the work of the Tax Accountant and support in the professional development and knowledge growth.
  • Prepare tax journal entries for monthly closing and perform quarterly and annual tax account reconciliations.
  • Assist and ensure compliance with company internal control policies and procedures and identify areas for improvement/consistency in the application across division.
  • Investigate and document federal tax return filing decisions and law changes

 

Experience:

 

  • 5-10 years of experience in public accounting or manufacturing environment.  
  • IFRS knowledge preferred    
  • SAP experience a plus     
  • Big Four experience a plus.                                               

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. Federal and state tax compliance
  • Strong working knowledge with tax systems and research tools  
  • International tax calculation knowledge (FTC, GILTI, FDII) a plus 
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of accounting principles and audit procedures (IFRS)      

 

Skills:

 

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office – excel heavy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent level of analytical and problem solving with a focus on error prevention.                                                          
  • Pursues training and or experiences for self-development.                                                       
  • A self-starter who is action oriented and has a strong sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated success maintaining and enhancing compliance and process controls.
  • Must have fiscal skills, business acumen and financial knowledge to compile and synthesize the companies operating information.

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Advanced degree, Specialization in Tax, and/or Certified Public Accountant preferred.
