JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

 

This position is responsible for research, design, development, application and testing of eMobility and Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) software systems for KB/Bendix Commercial Vehicles in North America.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Assignment will include system design, system requirements definition, product testing and release of prototype software systems
  • Follow market trends and emerging technologies for ZEV systems
  • Develop testing and functional software for prototype hardware
  • Understand and update existing code for new applications or functions
  • Automate test cases to enable quicker application deployments and verify functionality, performance and scalability
  • Collaborate and Support University Partnership(s) for eMobility
  • Represent Bendix’s interests in professional groups
  • Interface with hardware engineers, systems engineers, and customers to document system requirements and test results
  • Develop technical documentation for products.
  • Interface with customers, and management to communicate status of projects.
  • Able to estimate individual software tasks with a high degree of accuracy within given assumptions.
  • Willing to travel (test track, customer locations) as required up to 15%.

 

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Significant programming in C
  • Familiar with C, C#, Python, Autosar, ANSI C, CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe, Matlab, Simulink, dSpace, databases
  • Familiar with online software repositories to store, automate and deploy software services. (Github, Jenkins, GoogleTest)
  • Creation of environments enabling Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.
  • Familiar with CAN, Ethernet, and other communication protocols
  • Ability to build out testing suites and frameworks utilizing object oriented languages In-depth knowledge of driver assistance systems is a plus.
  • Broad automotive and electronic systems knowledge preferably related to heavy truck is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Vector tools (i.e. CANalyzer), SAE J1939 and SAE J1587 preferred
  • Familiarity with relevant industry organizations such as SAE, SME, IEEE
  • Familiarity with workings of a standards group or other government agencies a plus

 

Experience:

 

  • Engineer 3: 6+ years related experience with bachelor’s degree or 5+ years related experience with master’s degree.
  • Engineer 4: 8+ years related experience with bachelor’s degree or 6+ years related experience with master’s degree.
  • Prior automotive industry or commercial vehicle industry preferred.
  • Experience with backend test automation frameworks 
  • Experience with automotive embedded systems
  • Experience with developing software systems that address high availability requirements and/or meet functional safety standards such as ISO26262 a plus.
  • Knowledge of ASPICE a plus
  • Experience working with standard publishing or government grants a plus

Education:

 

  • B.S. in Software Engineering or Computer Science or a related field is required
  • M.S. in Software Engineering or Computer Science or a related field is a plus
