JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
This position will support North American customer release of Bendix/Knorr-Bremse Brake Controls through creation of envelope models and support of customer installation investigations. The position will also support Change Requests, generate and release Bendix and OEM installation drawings, and provide other support of Product Lifecycle Management process for mechatronic valves.
Essential Functions:
- Generate 3D models of mechatronic components using CREO CAD software, generate 2D assembly drawings and release drawing package using IPEM (Integrated Pro-E Management). IPEM is the software link between Pro-E and Teamcenter. Knowledge in NX is a plus.
- Prepare CAD models for FEA and CFD analysis and work with in-house expert to complete analysis. Correlate analysis results with physical prototype tests. Prepare detailed analysis reports.
- Participate in creating product concepts from initial drafts.
- Design and detail; primarily die casting, machined, and plastic components and mechatronic assemblies.
- Integrate Design for Manufacturing into components and assemblies.
- Develop Bill of Materials for assemblies.
- Apply GD&T techniques and perform tolerance stack up analysis.
- Perform design calculations. FEA knowledge (e.g. CREO Simulate, CREO live) is a strong plus.
- Apply all industry best practices and ANSI, ASME and ISO standards.
- Coordinates major project design efforts and work with vendors, customers and development functions as a significant part of the Engineering team.
- Participate in reviewing DFMEA, DVP&R and other related engineering documents.
- Mentor and check work of other Design Engineers.
- Provide input to improve engineering processes.
Knowledge:
- Experience with CREO CAD Software (3D & 2D); NX is a plus.
- GD&T (apply & read); experience in stack ups.
- Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management tools (e.g. Team Center).
- Experience contributing in DFMEA/technical specifications creation.
- Familiarized with engineering changes.
- Knowledge of IATF16949 quality processes a plus.
Experience:
- 1+ years of experience – Design Engineer level 2
- 3+ years of experience – Design Engineer level 3
- Automotive or transportation environment is a plus.
Skills:
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D computer aided design using CREO.
- Ability to learn and effectively use TeamCenter.
- Proficiency in; GD&T tolerance stack up analysis, Design for Manufacturing, generating design calculations, using ANSI, ASME and ISO standards and developing Bill of Materials for assemblies.
- Willingness to achieve GD&T certification.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication style and skills
- Capable to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency in designing and documenting calculations for pneumatic O-ring and spring designs.
- Proficiency in designing components and assemblies, fabricated from die cast aluminum, extruded aluminum, molded plastic, stamped steel and machined metallic components.
- Proficiency with various fastening methods, bolting, welding, swaging, retaining rings.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated self-starter and motivator of others.
- Quick learner.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering degree; Master degree a plus
- Green Belt certification or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
