JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

Responsible for developing / updating CMM programs on current & new part number launches to meet customer specs. Support on troubleshooting quality issues in the machining process.

Provide support as needed to setup technicians in machine adjustments interpretation. Coordinate Capability & dimensional studies as required. Perform dimensional and capability studies and give assistance in Statistical Analysis from CMM measurements. Provide support on CMM reports interpretation.

CMM programmer is computer-savvy precision measurement expert who uses technical skills to create and develops direct-computer control (DCC) programs for coordinate-measuring machines and complex test equipment to perform layout inspection of machined or assembled parts using customer part specifications in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner.
Work extensively with Product Development, Quality and Operations to take a product from design concept through production.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Create CMM programs for new part number launches
  • Update existing CMM programs based on systemic findings
  • Update programs with measurements to assist setups in machine adjustments
  • Troubleshoot CMM program collisions
  • Develop mini plans to measure characteristics with recurrent out of spec measurements
  • Perform machine capability studies
  • Perform lab and hard gages R&R's
  • Dimensional studies for PPAP's
  • Assist in CMM measurements statistical analysis
  • CMM Cycle Time reduction analysis
  • Read and analyze CMM reports
  • Assist measurements analysis (Acuña plants central)
  • Support PSA Activities and procedures with team members
  • Knows and communicates the need for product safety.
  • Perform all those activities that by the nature of the position are required.

 

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees.

  • Zeiss Calypso Software Basic Course
  • Zeiss Calypso Software Advanced Course
  • GD&T Fundamentals
  • MSA Certificate
  • Technical degree, Bachelors a plus
