JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:  

The Employee Relations Specialist partners with compliance, employees, managers and Human Resources to investigate and bring resolution to employee relations issues relating to claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, work environment and policy violations.   Investigations provide fair and consistent treatment to employees, and in a manner consistent with the company's policies, procedures, and country, state and federal law.  

The Specialist supports the implementation and administration of an effective system-wide employee relations program which promotes long and short-term employee relations strategies.  Specialist will conduct confidential workplace investigations and leverage superlative writing skills to maintain copious records, and prepare thorough, detailed reports during and upon conclusion of an investigation.   Will generate necessary reports as required.

 

Must be willing to travel as needed.

Essential Functions:  

  1. Collaborate with managers, legal, compliance, HSE and Human Resources to conduct basic/moderately complex HR investigations, including intake process, investigation planning and interviews, recommendation and determination, and reporting/insights analysis.   Communicates and updates status of investigations to relevant managers and HR.
  2. Collects and maintains evidence, including testimonial and documentary evidence, for use in drawing investigative conclusions.   Draft summary reports detailing findings resulting from investigations for review with applicable employees (i.e, legal, compliance, manager, Human Resources).
  3. Provide counsel and advice to managers and HR regarding employee relations issues, submits recommendations on addressing employee relations matters and assists with taking steps in response.  Advise and facilitate resolution of employee relations issues.
  4. Analyze employee relations and other data trends to address and mitigate risk and support and reinforce company culture.
  5. May advise employees and management on the interpretation of policies, procedures and values of the organization.
  6. Maintains knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations, and periodically reviews and updates applicable standards, trends and issues affecting the company work environment and policies.
  7. Develop and maintain a recordkeeping system that documents and tracks the status of employee-related matters, including internal investigations.
  8. Foster and cultivate effective relationships.
  9. Utilize critical thinking and fact-based analysis, provide advice, guidance, and training for front-line supervisors and managers regarding issues arising in the context of the employment relationship.
  10. Advise managers on fair and consistent implementation of employee discipline.
  11. Support consistent interpretation and application of company policies.
  12. Prepare reports to demonstrate employee relations metrics.
  13. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records related to employee relations, grievances, investigations, and disciplinary actions.

 

Knowledge:  

  1. Honesty, integrity, and strong knowledge of HR principles, applicable employment laws and regulations.
  2. Ability to investigate and bring closure to complex HR issues.
  3. Must have excellent writing skills and experience in preparing investigation reports in both detail and summary form.
  4.  Must have an analytical mind that provides creative solutions to day-to-day problems, and an ability to relate to employees at all levels of the organization.
  5. Able to manage highly confidential information and appreciate the absolute requirement of discretion with sensitive employee and corporate information.
  6. Skilled at conflict resolution, informal mediation, and negotiation
  7. Knowledge of interrogation techniques

 

Experience:  

  • Minimum three years’ experience Human Resource Business Partner.
  • Minimum three years’ experience addressing and resolving employee relations concerns and completing workplace investigations.

  11. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office tools

 

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree - Human Resources or employee relations, or appropriate experience.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish and English REQUIRED.
