JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

This position is responsible to support design, development, application and testing of mechatronic products for commercial vehicle air systems.  The successful candidate will lead the in-plant support of the product interfacing with manufacturing, quality, and design teams to ensure program deliverables.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Represent Bendix products as lead engineering support for plant level interfaces, presenting program and technical topics in a concise and professional manner.
  • Support the development and application of product concepts and requirements documentation.
  • Support the creation of product and design specifications.
  • Support the engineering product development cycle through design coordination, test plan creation, prototypes, FMEAs and PPAPs.
  • Support the program management function by coordinating engineering activities to meet program timing.
  • Support production activities by interfacing with manufacturing and quality functions and leading engineering changes.
  • Perform failure and warranty analysis on prototype assemblies, production parts and field returns. 
  • Manage and organize test plans and resources for component and complete system validation and track through standard DVP&R.
  • Perform engineering data collection and analysis from laboratory and vehicle testing as needed.
  • Executes annual product quality audits and coordinate actions/improvements identified during evaluations with quality and manufacturing engineers using 8D methodology.
  • Travel as needed to support program deliverables or vehicle testing.
  • Support field troubleshooting calls regarding mechatronic systems.

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Broad automotive and electronic systems knowledge, preferably related to commercial vehicles.
  • Familiar with CAN communication protocol and using CAN analysis tools, such as CANalyzer or CANape is a plus.
  • Able to lead customer interactions and perform technical presentations.
  • Participation in the FMEA and DVP&R process.
  • Detail oriented and driven to complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Able to create technical requirements, specifications, and test plans.
  • Knowledge of air brake systems preferred.
  • Total Quality and Product Safety skills including familiarity with ISO-9001, Six Sigma and Functional Safety ISO26262 is a plus.
  • GD&T and ISO GPS is a plus.

 

Experience:

 

  • 4+ years of automotive industry or commercial vehicle industry preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing mechatronic devices is a plus.
  • Prior automotive or commercial vehicle industry experience.

Education:

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering is required.
  • M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering is preferred.
