JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

 

This position is responsible for monitoring and project management of the site’s energy consumption as well as other strategic environmental and sustainability initiatives for the Mexico operations.  KB Climate strategy and corporate energy reduction initiatives will be facilitated by this individual. 

 

This position will be located in Acuna, Mexico with high interaction with corporate headquarters.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Serves as site climate action team leader for Acuna, Mexico operations
    • Accountable for site performance, project pipeline identification and execution.
    • Facilitates local alignment of resources and prioritization of projects.
    • Provide remote leadership support for other US locations
  2. Track and monitor monthly energy metrics and performance
    • Coordinate monthly utilities metrics (electricity, natural gas, propane, gasoline, diesel, water) reporting from all Acuña locations including usage and cost in support of KB reporting requirements.
    • Calculate and validate monthly ECR (Energy Consumption Rate), CO2 KPI metric. Submit metrics to KB on a quarterly basis
    • Identify anomalies and work with sites to determine/document deltas in monthly metrics
    • Lead monthly/quarterly meetings to review performance metrics
  3. Energy and CO2 reduction Project Identification, execution, and support
    • Conduct energy assessments and audits to determine energy and CO2 saving opportunities
    • Conduct initial and updated inventories for lighting, HVAC, compressed air
    • Create 3 to 5-year pipeline of potential projects
    • Support local feasibility assessments for onsite renewable energy projects (i.e., solar)
    • Coordinate and facilitate project quoting and CAPEX investment requirements
    • Support business case creation and project PAR submittal for appropriation of local and corporate funds
    • Support execution of approved projects
    • Track energy savings/ROI calculations for energy projects
    • Ensure consistent documentation for existing projects, status, energy and cost savings
    • Validate existing and previous projects for actual savings
    • Provide support to sites for energy-related questions
    • Identification of rebates for energy efficient efforts
  4. Submetering technical expert
    • Lead identification of local submetering needs
    • Coordinate use of submetering and building management systems (BMS) projects
    • Support physical installation, start-up and training of sub-metering systems at locations.
    • Define and establish submetering reports, collecting data, setting alerts.
    • Tracking energy savings related to submetering and use of BMS
    • Providing Tech support, training, and assistance to all sites
  5. Refrigerant Management Technical Expert
    • Knowledge of refrigerant types, properties, applications, and regulation
    • Management of site refrigerant inventory and reporting requirements
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards for refrigerant use, handling, storage, and disposal
    • Provide education, training, and guidance to other staff members on refrigerant safety and best practices
    • Development of a refrigerant risk reduction site strategy (regulatory, GHG, toxicity)

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Demonstrated Project Management Expertise – ability to manage other environmental or sustainability projects as needed (zero waste, wastewater, process-chemical, air, etc…) as needed
  • Required knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, Building automation systems, energy-related engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of Current on energy efficiency technologies and best practice operating strategies.
  • Must fully understand ISO50001.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art computer tools, used to perform structural analysis and design for energy purposes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing facilities a plus.

 

Experience:

 

Experience (Engineer 1):

 

  • 1-3 years’ experience in energy and utilities management for a large and/o complex building portfolio.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.

 

Experience (Engineer 2):

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in energy and utilities management for multiple locations / corporate wide setting
  • Hands on project implementation experience for onsite renewables, submetering, building management systems or other higher level energy project
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment required.

 

Experience (Engineer 3):

 

  • 7+ years’ experience in energy and utilities management for a large and complex building portfolio, including international locations.
  • Expert knowledge leading technical projects, such as onsite renewable energy, building management systems, energy procurement, power purchase agreements, etc
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment required.

 

Skills:

 

  • Fluent bilingual oral and written Spanish and English skills are required.
  • Project management / program management skill set required.
  • Self-starter / self-motivating.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Solid analytical skills.
  • Good organizational skills, capable of maintaining schedules and communicating progress to management
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others, within and with diverse cultures, both independently and within teams and with cross-functional teams in coordinating and prioritizing development.

 

 

Education:

 

  • Engineering degree: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) highly desired

 

 

Travel Requirement:

 

  • Must be willing to travel 10% of the time for the organization.
