JOB DESCRIPTION:

​​​​This incumbent is responsible for leading operations strategy within the assigned Value Stream with influence and direct authority for the safety, quality, delivery, and cost outputs from the Value Stream.  Must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect safety, part quality, production efficiency, continuous improvement, etc. to achieve the overall goals of the Value Stream.  The Value Stream Leader will also have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be an innovator and change agent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manages the manufacturing process of the Value Stream.
  • Establishes and maintains systems to drive 5S, labor utilization and equipment availability improvements continually.
  • Ensures all production employees are aligned and tracked to the same targets for 5S, OEE and labor productivity.
  • Provides leadership for production areas and the team members.
  • Drives Value Stream operations to ensure productivity, delivery, quality, safety, and budget goals are achieved.
  • Establishes strong and effective working relationships that are conducive to maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Partners with departmental leaders: HSE, Quality, Engineering, Materials and Human Resources to achieve or exceed facility goals.
  • Drives accountability through the use of tools and other methods to track performance.
  • Teaches others Lean Manufacturing methods and then implements changes with positive results.
  • Evaluates departmental constraints and implements Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve capacities.
  • Works closely with Engineering to define and implement cost-effective continuous improvement projects.
  • Understands and applies policies consistently and fairly to team members.
  • Promotes and drives the organizations vision and utilization of our Production System (Lean Manufacturing) methodologies.
  • Champions change and facilitates team related functions to improve the business performance.
  • Uses problem solving methods and innovation to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensures all autonomous maintenance activities are defined, executed and effective to eliminate equipment breakdowns from lack of operator maintenance.
  • Works closely with team members across departments to establish priorities ensuring on-time shipments to customers, meeting quality expectations, and other activities as needed.
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding safety, health, and environmental concerns.
  • Understands current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regard to product quality.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

 

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree Engineering or similar field. Master’s degree highly preferred.
  • Requires at least ten years of manufacturing operations experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment including 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of Lean Manufacturing Methods and tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Statistical evaluation software familiarity a plus.
  • Strong Problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities is required.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles is required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases.  Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions.  Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above
