JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide world class quality technical support to the manufacturing areas and product launch activities that meet or exceed customer expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Ensures compliance with the company’s Quality Management System and accepted manufacturing practices.
- Ensures compliance with all Product Safety Procedure requirements; fully understands and ensures compliance with Bendix Product Safety Escalation Process.
- Understands Critical Characteristics/Special Characteristics in terms of controlling the characteristic using appropriate tools to ensure capability and stability of the process and product; understands the potential outcome if the characteristic is not in specification and the liability to the company if a defective part gets into the field.
- Provide measurement and testing support for internal and external quality issues.
- Provide support for tear down analysis of gear assemblies
- Perform visual inspections as needed for screening of defects and correct builds/kits
- Clearly communicate well organized data and test results in a timely manner.
- Provide process problem solving and failure analysis/root cause analysis support to production, quality and engineering.
- Train operations and quality staff on containment actions or other inspection changes using Quality Alert process
- Practice and encourage safe work habits and observes all safety rules and regulations.
- Understand and follow the written and unwritten policies and procedures associated with the department.
- Strive to attain the safety, quality, production and housekeeping goals for the department.
- Perform various audits in work cells such as assembly & test, shipping, receiving and the stockroom
- Review and document returned material from customers.
- Manage non-conforming material within the different departments and enter the information into the computer system.
- Perform duties of assembly or paint inspector as needed to cover absences
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not require any supervisory duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-5+ years of professional experience in manufacturing
- Preferred experience in automotive assembly environment
- Ability to collect and analyze data from different sources
- Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Preferred Experience in IATF 19649 certified facility
- Ability to read and understand machine blue prints
- Preferred Experience in quality department as an inspector or equivalent
- High School or Equivalent
- Preferred experience in testing and repair of first time failure of steering gears
- Ability to be able to move between plants (1, 11, 5, 6, 7)
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles
- Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends
WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
