JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibility of this position is to analyze and diagnose equipment issues and execute moderate to complex maintenance and repairs timely on various manufacturing production equipment and related accessories. Typically, the Master Mechanic completes tasks of a higher degree of scope and/or complexity compared to the Maintenance Mechanic, with little or no supervision.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES):

Master Mechanic
• Perform complex repairs from intricate prints, charts and verbal instructions such as component overhaul or replacement (essential job function)
• Lead, train and coordinate the activities of other Maintenance Mechanics (essential job function)
• Other duties as assigned.
• Knowledge of complex manufacturing repair methods and technologies
• Ability to develop solutions that may be undocumented and/or require analytical and creative thinking
Maintenance Mechanic
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical operation and repair
• Knowledge of various types of Plumbing repair methods
• Observe, review, test and diagnose performance issues on manufacturing production equipment and related accessories to determine appropriate parts and repairs needed
• Communicate diagnosis to Supervisor to obtain necessary parts or supplies to complete repair
• Perform routine maintenance such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, hoists, cranes and sanitary facilities and inspect for excessive wear and/or damage
• Utilize power and hand tools to remove, replace and adjust fasteners and locking mechanisms, hoist and replace parts as needed.
• Disassemble machines and makes repairs to hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, pipe fitting, sheet metal, basic electrical mechanical and masonry.
• Maintain accurate work order, log of maintenance and repairs performed to specific equipment
• Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities as it relates to workflow

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Seven years mechanic experience, three of which performing moderate to complex repairs on manufacturing equipment.
• Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
• Experience in production/manufacturing environment  
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles
• Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases.  Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions.  Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
