The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain various liquid recycling systems, as well as waste reclaiming and storage systems.  The incumbent must be able to follow general machine shop practices while working under minimal supervision.  Responsibilities cited below are considered essential job functions.

•    Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
•    Set controls on control panel and activate systems; Drain and clean all systems
•    Inspect control panels and maintain accurate written record of all data observed as required.  Verbally report observations to supervisor
•    Replace return lines, pumps, valves, filters, float switches and other equipment as necessary
•    Inspect all equipment and systems for leaks.  Report findings to supervisor and repair leaking containers, if possible
•    Analyze fluid, mixes and fluid levels in accordance to verbal and written instructions, make any required adjustments and notify supervisor of observation
•    Remove waste products and transfer fluids to storage facilities for further use and/or processing
•    Analyze waste water samples as directed by supervisor and prepare written monthly report of the results for the Safety Director 
•    Prepare and analyze samples of various fluids as directed by supervisor
•    Paint machinery and equipment as required.  Maintain accurate written paint inventory
•    Prepare and send coolant samples to concentrate manufacturing lab for analysis
•    Monitor parts inventory and maintain accurate written records
•    Remove trash and perform general housekeeping
•    Other duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Communication skills, ability to read, write and comprehend instruction
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, walk, reach
  • Ability to lift items up to 50lbs without assistance
  • Knowledge of waste treatment techniques, chemicals and physical reactions
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive vehicles such as pick-up truck and forklift

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:  

General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease, chips and coolants from the operation of machine tools and the assembly of machines and equipment.  Normal working position is standing or walking through the plant.  Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed. May work from a ladder, platform, scaffold inside or outside of the plant, in confined areas or in wide temperature extremes.  The weight can range up to 100 lbs therefore proper lifting/moving techniques, i.e. use of a crane, are required in excess of 50 lbs.  

Tools Required:  Standard machine tools are required to perform most of the daily responsibilities.  Any specialized tools or measuring equipment will be provided by the company as needed.

 

EDUCATION & MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

H.S. Diploma or equivalent,  Trade school education preferred; Two years of industrial waste and recycling experience in manufacturing environment preferred
