JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibility of this position is to test samples of heat treated components for laboratory analysis; will make decisions on the microstructure of lab samples for release to production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Follows all laboratory sample preparation procedures needed to qualify production releases. Samples and qualifies purchased parts and incoming steels prior to release to manufacturing.
- Maintain accurate recordkeeping for the traceability of all samples for future reference.
- Will be required to use various acids, compounds, and other chemicals and the understanding of safe use is required at all times.
- Calibrate all laboratory equipment and tests the shot media on a regular basis.
- Process bar code labels as required by the Assembly department, thus maintaining traceability for the life of the product.
- Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not require any supervisory duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Two years in a chemistry or metallurgical lab role preferred
- One year of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in shipping/receiving in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings preferred.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles
- Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
