JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is accountable for supporting and maintaining the Health, Safety and Environmental ("HSE") programs, activities, and control measures for the site, as well as coordinating these efforts with various compliance programs, to protect all personnel and physical assets. This position helps ensure compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements under federal, state, and local law and regulations and business policies.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Develop and initiate programs and processes in partnership with site management to reduce frequency and severity of occupational injuries, illnesses, and property losses.
• Evaluation of HSE Hazards, Risks and Impacts.
• Maintain incident management systems and processes, including change procedures and documentation, and safety observation and hazard tracking systems.
• Plan, coordinate, and lead all site HSE training programs for production, maintenance, and salaried positions.
• Plan, coordinate, and lead all ergonomic evaluations and training.
• Design and provide hazard analysis required for Standardized Work Instructions and related forms.
• Conduct HSE audits and evaluations, perform job safety analysis (JSA), prepare reports, and conduct follow-up on actions.
• Record and analyze incident records and make recommendations regarding corrective action, emphasizing proactive intervention.
• Assist Managers and Production Team Leaders (PTL) in incident investigation/prevention follow up.
• Monitoring implementation of corrective actions.
• Participate in internal/external audits as needed.
• Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies. Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding health, safety, and environmental concerns.
• Foster a positive safety culture through professional and proactive interactions with employees and maintaining a strong shopfloor presence.
• Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has supervisory responsibilities as it relates to workflow. This role is not responsible for management of personnel but will be competent in basic conflict resolution and problem solving.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree: in Health, Safety, Environmental or related area preferred.
• 5-7 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree may be considered.
• 3-5 years’ experience working in a Health, Safety, Environmental role, manufacturing.
• Have completed formal training in and/or have at least one (1) year of work experience applying continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
• Have prior work experience conducting training and/or developing training materials.
• BCSP certification(s) either possess or working towards: CIH, CSP, ASP, GSP, OHST, CHST.
