Snyder Equipment is proud to be part of the New York Air Brake family of companies.  Our 27,000 square feet headquarters campus in Nixa, Missouri, manufactures fueling systems, support equipment for railyards and wayside operations, and various onboard locomotive equipment. All of Snyder’s remanufacturing operations also take place on the Nixa Campus.


We are seeking a Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team.

** Starting Pay $17.00-$20.00**


Essential Functions

  • Set up CNC Mills and Lathes for production runs
  • Change, tools, comp work and tool offsets.
  • Deburr parts, saw/prep raw materials.
  • Maintain on-time delivery for all jobs in production.
  • Work with tight tolerances  +-.001 in high volume production scale.
  • Proper use of power and manual tools, such as impact wrenches, drills, EZ Outs, and hand tools.
  • Understand and comply with all quality and safety rules, guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  • Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Must understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) defined in the goal tree.


Skills and Competencies 

Technical Capacity

  • High proficiency in Math – trigonometry, decimals, and conversions.


Knowledge of generally accepted best practices and theory.

  • Good mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of shop use of measuring devices.
  • Basic knowledge of quantitative methods/statistical procedures and graphic skills.
  • Communication Proficiency
  • Organization Skills
  • Time Management


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e., noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt, etc.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools and reach with hands and arms.


Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.


Required Education and Experience 

High school diploma or equivalent

2+ years of CNC Mill and Lathe related experience.
