JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring a Quality Management system for material review, quality improvement, quality audits, and customer source inspection to sustain a pro-active quality system.
Quality Processes and Audits
- Develop, implement, and review quality procedures/instructions as well as conduct internal audits to ISO 9001 and IRIS standards.
- Participant on the Material Review Board, change Control Board and monitor the effectiveness of corrective action.
- Timely resolution of internal corrective actions based on ISO/IRIS audits.
- Development of effective preventative action for the business based on ISO/IRIS audits by Bureau Veritas (registrar).
Customer and Product Support
- Review customer proposals and contracts for quality related contractual requirements.
- Support the manufacture and procurement of all components used in brakes, doors, and HVAC systems.
- Troubleshoot in-process and supplier related quality issues as well as assist with Supplier Improvement programs.
- Coordinate customer corrective actions and/or follow-up on supplier corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Prepare, submit, and assure acceptance by the customer, quality plans, inspection, and test plans per the project requirements.
- This position has the authority to withhold product from presentation to the customer or shipment, in accordance with the Quality Procedures.
Continuous Improvement
- Quality and continuous improvement is mandatory for all businesses today.
- Partner with suppliers to resolve issues, identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
- Review processes and work instructions, with non-conforming material and with contractual requirements.
Skills and Competencies
- Has the ability to develop and implement Quality standards.
- Understands KPS or lean behaviors and able to apply these to processes.
- Experienced with APQP and relevant Quality control tools and processes, including knowledge of or education in Quality Engineering, design control, and verification and validation tools and methodologies.
- Independently analyze and trend data, formulate and implement corrective actions to improve products, processes, and systems.
- Experienced in Advanced Math, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MiniTab.
- Understands PFMEA (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).
- Has intermediate to advanced problem-solving skills.
- Experienced in Metallurgy/Materials Testing and inspection/measuring machines and tools (ex. CMM, micrometers, calipers, gauges).
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering
3-5 Years Relevant Experience
Preferred:
Member of ASQ, Certification as Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, or Quality Auditor.
