JOB DESCRIPTION:

Control Systems Administrator

 

Purpose of the Job

 

The Control Systems Administrator (known internally as Application Design Engineer) will work as a systems administrator-type with established team on the MARTA project based in Atlanta, GA. The Control Center System includes 3 subsystems: ATS (Automatic Train Supervision), SCADA and Security System. Responsible for ensuring the successful integration and functionality of the Control Center System. Work with teams across the business (including System team, ATS Specification project team, and ATS tools team), monitor and control various subsystems such as Signal, Switch, Track circuit, and Train Movement. Will perform requirement analysis and allocation (for all technical contractual requirements) up through Test & Commissioning and final solution acceptance by the customer.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

Key accountabilities: 

 

  • Assisting in the technical deployment while coordinating between engineering disciplines (including externals) to ensure the customer acceptance of the project solution 
  • Ensuring that applicable technical documents are distributed to all relevant project disciplines
  • Ensuring project documentation approval by customer
  • Ensuring the management of configuration throughout the project life cycle (as-designed, as-built, as-shipped, as-installed etc.)
  • Acting as the engineering liaison to all project disciplines, including externals
  • Defining, producing, and validating all Control Center System application data and parameters to customize a System / Sub-system for a given project/product
  • Ensuring that all the technical requirements, from analysis to demonstration, are managed throughout the project lifecycle
  • Performing Data Preparation and testing for ATS, SCADA and Security System based on the Design Document and Tools
  • Performing Integration between products, modules, Interfaces, including HMI, and data. Produce deployment tool.
  • Assisting in defining Test Plan and Integration documents and as well as perform tests
  • Producing  customized engineering solutions including interconnections between systems and sub-systems 
  • Assisting in defect analysis to identify the component causing issues and interfacing with producers for resolution
  • Providing feedback to inputs producers such as the System team and ATS Specification project team
  • Together with the Project Manager, identifying, raising and managing various change and work  orders in the system.

 

Experience

 

Mandatory:

  • 3-5 years in Information Systems, Computer programing or Engineering disciplines

 

Desirable:

  • Experience or understanding of control and/or communication systems design, operation, and evaluation
  • Knowledge of system engineering and interface control documents
  • Familiarity with both Linux and Windows operating systems, including systems administration, installation, configuration, and server management
  • Understanding of SCADA systems and industry standard protocols such as Modbus, TCP/IP, and Serial Communication
  • A certification or demonstrated skill in technical assessment and troubleshooting, with knowledge of tools like GDB, Wireshark, etc.
  • Experience or understanding of control and/or communication systems design, operation, and evaluation
  • System Engineering and Applications Engineering and/or System Test/Validation
  • Collaboration with Signaling customers

 

Competencies & Skills: 

  • Proficiency in software design and Object-Oriented Programming, especially in C and C++
  • Experience with Unix Shell scripting
  • Communication and Interpersonal skills (teamwork and leadership)

Education

 

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Info Systems, Math, or related field required.

 

Desirable:

  • Master’s Degree of Science in Engineering Software Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Info Systems, Math, or related field
