JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

Take the challenge of leading an engineering team and provide effective guidance.

Build the vision of the IXL Application Engineering domain and involve the team in its implementation, aiming at continuous improvement in productivity and performances.

Plan, grow and acknowledge team expertise.  

Be responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members on a daily basis.

Act proactively addressing projects and/or development commitments and collaborating with you peers for seamless and successful operations.

As a Department Head, you will interact with all team members, so your communication as well as your motivation skills should be excellent. Your role will be to define the path for continuous improvement of performance and effectiveness of your team.

Essential Functions:

• Define and implement engineering vision (team profile and skills, discipline evolutions in terms of technology, department competitiveness, …)
• Set clear team goals, delegate tasks and set deadlines
• Provide support to team project  execution
• Promote KB Signaling values to his/her team
• Continuously motivate, encourage, evaluate and recognize, train and develop resources, in cooperation with HR, as per approved performance evaluation process and targets
• Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments
• Be accountable of Process, Methods and Tools deployment in his/her scope, and contribute to their improvement
• Drive IXL project lifecycle standardization and competitiveness initiatives
• Review workload forecasts and capacity, leveraging on subcontracting & business strategies as well as footprint objectives, and staff adequately Projects/Bids
• Participate to tender Design Reviews and Documentation Reviews as per tender strategy and relevance
• Lead effort estimating activities for teams work in projects and tenders
• Commit in Project/ Tender schedule and cost reviews related to its Métier/domain
• Independently leads the design complex new/modified signal systems in response to contract related requirements per company standards and customer specifications. 
• Leads mentoring programs and develops training for other application leaders and application engineers.
• Leads technical discussions directly with customers and represents/protects the company’s interests.

• Advises and provides technical direction on assigned project(s) to other technical staff reporting within same project(s).

• Interfaces with internal/external contacts to include vendors, subcontractors and prime contractors on technical matters.
• Creates design templates and standards for other application leaders.

Mandatory Knowledge:

• Significant experience leading a team or group
• Expert in tracking/monitoring initiative/project performance
• Experience in project/program management or large initiative execution
• MS Office Experience
• Experience working in multicultural and international environments

Mandatory Experience:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in an engineering field
• Good analytical skills and previous experience in signaling application design discipline, V&V discipline or Signaling Product design are required.
• Experience in computer-based interlocking books of plans and application logic
• Design and data preparation processes understanding
• Experience in supporting Factory Test and Field Test teams in testing and deploy IXL implementations

Education/Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in science in Engineering, Computer Science or scientific subjects Or equivalent applicable experience in the IXL engineering area
