Master thesis "Determination of material Woehler curves for adhesives used at IFE"

LOCATION: KematenAustria | BRAND: IFE | REQUISITION ID: 2074

IFE is the worldwide leading manufacturer of automatic entrance systems for railway vehicles. Wouldn’t it be great to play an active part in shaping the future of mobility?

INITIAL SITUATION

  • At IFE, the door leaves are designed as an adhesive construction. Both thin-film adhesives (for metal bonding) and thick-film adhesives (for window bonding) are used.

  • According to the DIN 6701 bonding standard, a mathematical strength verification is required for safety-relevant bondings.

  • For the fatigue strength proof (time and fatigue strength evaluation) corresponding material characteristics are required.

TASKS

  • Determination of suitable tests for the determination of the tensile and shear Woehler curves. For this purpose, the standard specifications and notes in the special literature are to be taken into account. Thick film adhesives used for window bonding as well as metal adhesives are to be considered.

  • Definition of simple specimens and clamping devices and preparation of the necessary production documents

  • Literature research on adhesive data and collecting the material characteristics found

  • Carrying out and supervising measurements on the in-house hydropulse equipment to determine the Wöhler curves (time and fatigue strength range)

  • Documenting and interpreting the results

REQUIREMENTS

  • Studies at a technical university or university of applied sciences

  • Basic knowledge of operational and fatigue strength analysis

  • Initiative

  • Solution-oriented way of working
