JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
This person is responsible for leading operations strategy within the Maintenance department. Must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect safety, quality, machine uptime, production efficiency, continuous improvement, etc. The Maintenance Supervisor will also have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be an innovator and change agent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and Lead Maintenance Team:
- Oversee and manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
- Schedule and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and maximize production efficiency.
- Ensure that team members are properly trained on equipment, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices.
- Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
- Drive and implement the MOS maintenance program to reduce the risk of equipment failures.
- Supervise corrective maintenance activities, troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and provide technical support as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and downtime for continuous improvement.
- Drive PM compliance and 5S programs.
- Evaluates departmental constraints and implements Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve capacities.
- Equipment Management:
- Monitor the condition of equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of assets.
- Ensure that all equipment complies with safety standards and regulations, including regulatory compliance for the facility and machinery.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement of maintenance supplies.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure the maintenance team follows all safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, tools, and facilities.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Collaboration and Communication:

- Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities that minimize impact on production schedules.
- Communicate with other departments (production, engineering, etc.) to coordinate maintenance and repair priorities.
- Report on maintenance performance, equipment reliability, and any issues that impact production to upper management.
- Champions change and facilitates team related functions to improve the business performance.
- Ensures compliance with the plant policies and procedures including requirements for TS16949 and ISO14001

Education:
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance is preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a maintenance role in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role managing a team of maintenance technicians.
- Strong knowledge of machinery, equipment, and systems in a manufacturing setting (e.g., CNC machines, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.).
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient with SAP and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environment.
Certifications (preferred but not required):
- Maintenance or Engineering certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance Manager, Certified Maintenance Technician).
- Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR).
Work Environment:
This position will require the individual to work in a heavy manufacturing environment, including exposure to machinery, tools, chemicals, and potentially hazardous materials. Proper safety equipment will be provided and must be worn at all times.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Huntington, IN is $60,200 – $90,400 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Bendix is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements. Hired applicant will be able to purchase company stock, subject to the relevant plan documents and annual bonuses based on achievement of certain metrics of up to 4% of annual salary.
